The Namaacha border post in Maputo province will be open from 7:00 a.m. to midnight from today, in order to allow greater flexibility in the economic relations between Mozambique and the Kingdom of Swaziland.
Until yesterday, the Namacha border post closed at 8:00 p.m., which came to be thought an administrative barrier hampering the business environment between the two countries.
The decision to extend the opening hours was taken at the first Session of the Joint Permanent Mozambique-Swaziland Commission for Defence and Security held in Maputo in July 2016 under the direction of the ministers of the interior of both countries.
A ceremony conducted by the Minister of the Interior, Jaime Basílio Monteiro, and Princess Tandzile, Minister of Home Affairs of the Kingdom of Swaziland, will take place at the border post today.
The Mozambican Association of Mukheristas, one of the border post’s biggest customers, will also be present, and is already broadcasting the considerable gains the measure will bring about.
The event will also be attended by representatives of the government of Maputo province, Namaacha district, economic agents, cultural groups and the general public.
