Mozambique: Azagaia's widow demands investigation into schoolbook that 'defames' the artist

Young musician Messias Maricoa, who hit the spotlight last year and has remained a resounding success to date, was the only Mozambican to win a prize at the Kizomba Music Awards. Maricoa won the trophy in the Mais Kizomba category at the world’s largest Kizomba platform.
The gala took place on the 26th of last month in Portugal, which has fostered the career of the musician perhaps best known for his song “Nhanhado”. The event was organized by + Mais Kizomba to celebrate artists from Portuguese-speaking countries who have stood out most in the field of music in the last year.
Among the nominees of 2016 were other Mozambican names: Twenty Fingers, Mimae, Filomena Maricoa, Jay Kim and Juêncio Luyiz.
Anselmo Ralph. C4 Pedro, Mika Mendes, Djodje and Calema, well known in the Mozambican music scene, were also among the nominees. The event was broadcast live on YouTube and the winners were chosen by voting.
Messias Maricoa used his official Facebook page to thank fans, friends and followers for their support, and promised to surprise them with new work. “Another prize, awarded by the world’s largest kizomba platform. I am grateful and very glad for all the affection you give me. Without you, none of this would be possible,” he wrote.
Other awards were as follows:
Best Song – Luciana Abreu ft. Daniel SantaCruz “Tu e Eu”;
Best Video – Kataleya “Deja Vu”;
Revelation – dupla Calema;
Best producer – Dream Bitz;
Mais Kizomba Award – Messias Maricoa;
