The National Directorate of Civil Identification (FID) registered 41 attempts to obtain identification through the use of false documents across the country last week.
The figures were released today by FID spokesman Alberto Sumbana during the body’s weekly press briefing.
Sumbana revealed that Manica had the highest incidence of cases with a total of 28, follwed by Zambézia with 11 and the remaining two originating in Niassa and Inhambane.
Sumbana said that the cases had been handed over to the police authorities who are currently investigating the claims as a way of neutralizing the criminal gangs at the heart of the activity.
