The Mozambican Attorney General’s Office (PGR) yesterday confirmed that it has been notified by two courts of lawsuits which Privinvest has opened against the Mozambican state, stating that steps to respond to the notifications are ongoing.
“The PGR received two notifications from two arbitral tribunals, namely: the International Court of Arbitration of Paris (ICC) and the Swiss International Arbitration Institution (SCAI), on behalf of Privinvest,” a note to the press distributed by the institution yesterday reads.
Lusa had previously reported that the Privinvest group was suing the Mozambican state and three state-owned companies involved in the case of Mozambique’s hidden debts, claiming that it had suffered breach of contract amounting to at least US$200 million in one of the cases.
In yesterday’s note, the Mozambican PGR says that it will intervene on behalf of the state, and that steps have already been taken to respond to the notifications.
