The licensing of new companies to capture and export mangrove crabs in Zambézia province has been suspended, a measure taken to mitigate the risk of the species’ becoming locally extinct.
Head of the Department of the Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries at the Provincial Services for Economic Activities in Zambézia, Agnelo Bissane said that, last year, more than 900 tons of mangrove crab were exported.
