Mozambican short-film 'Vandals' premieres in Maputo with two sold-out sessions

Classical music project Xiquitsi will present its third and final series of concerts this year on Friday and Saturday, 9th and 10th of December.
On Friday at the Santo António da Polana Church, Maputo city, from 7.30 p.m., the Xiquitsi orchestra and choir will present an early Christmas programme called “Night of the Family”.
As has become customary at Xiquitsi classical music nights, the concert will start with the Xhosa hymn “Indodana”, arranged by Michael Barrett. Then, in the spirit of Christmas, follows “O Magnum Mysterium”, an a cappella piece by Morten Lauridsenf, “Modimo”, another Michael Barrett arrangement by which features lively percussion, and “Ave Verum” by Karl Jenks. The program also includes “Cantique” by Jean Racine, “The Skye Boat Song” (traditional), and closes with “Missa Para O Meu Sol”, a work by Estêvão Chissano with sections ‘Kyrie’, ‘Gloria’, ‘Credo’ , ‘Sanctus’ and ‘Agnus Dei’, all inspired and based on the biblical psalms.
Then, on Saturday, starting at 7:00 p.m. in the Cine Teatro Scala, also in Maputo city, Xiquitsi presents its end of school-year concert, with minister of culture and tourism Eledevina (Kika) Materula conducting and Wazimbo as one of the soloists.
