Unknown individuals shot a woman dead yesterday afternoon in a beauty salon in the centre of the Mozambican capital, police in Maputo have announced.
The 60-year-old victim lost her life after being shot twice, once in the head, by a group of three men, at around 3:00 p.m. in a busy beauty salon on Avenida Emília Daússe in Bairro Central, police spokesman Leonel Muchina told the media.
Although they were transported in a vehicle without a registration plate, the men were not masked, which could facilitate the investigation, Muchina noted.
“It is worth mentioning that we have the help of the neighbourhood video surveillance system,” he added.
Images released by some Mozambican media show the victim’s body leaning on a bloodied armchair, a scenario described as “barbaric” by those who witnessed it.
“They entered the salon and shot the lady twice, once in the back of the head and once in the chest. After that, they left calmly and drove off in a light vehicle,” an eyewitness told the media.
