Mozambique: Woman murdered in Machava

A 34-year-old woman was found dead, evidently raped and murdered, in Matola’s Machava KM-15 neighbourhood yesterday.
The search for the victim began on Tuesday night when the young woman failed to return home, to the concern of her family, neighbours and local leadership.
The deceased, who leaves behind a husband and son, was found in a reed bed near her residence in the Ferreira area, two days after she went missing. The body was removed by the National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC).
“The forest was the main focus of our searches, but we couldn’t find her,” a neighbour reported. “This morning (yesterday), we found one of her flip-flops in the reeds and continued searching until we found a body with a bloodied mouth and showing signs of rape. We later confirmed her identity.”
