Mozambique operating MCAV-20 armoured vehicles

A group of unidentified assailants in a car fired shots at another vehicle in the city of Lichinga, northern Mozambique, on Thursday, killing one woman and wounding another, police announced today, Lusa reports..
“Unknown attackers drew up alongside the victim’s vehicle and opened fire,” Niassa police spokesman Alves Mathe announced.
The other occupant of the vehiclewas under medical care at Lichinga Hospital.
The National Criminal Investigation Service (Sernic) is investigating the case, without so far advancing any possible motivation for the crime.
According to a report brought by civil society organisation Sala da Paz later this morning both women were reportedly killed and one of the victims is identified as Rosa Chukwa, a former Renamo deputy in the Mozambican parliament,
Sala da Paz reports that 20 shots were fired at the car.
