The Mozambican Council of Ministers today scheduled voter registration for the October 11 municipal elections for between April 20 and June 3.
“The Council of Ministers analysed the Decree which sets the period” for voter registration, Council of Ministers spokeswoman Ludovina Bernardo announced at the end of the meeting.
The 45-day operation will start after the rainy season.
Pilot voter registration is taking place this month, covering 100,000 potential voters from nine districts in the provinces of Nampula, Manica and Maputo, to test equipment and procedures.
Mozambique begins a new electoral cycle this year, with the holding of municipal elections, followed by general elections (presidential, legislative, provincial and the first district elections) in 2024.
