Venâncio Mondlane will no longer be able to run for the presidency of the Renamo party, following the approval, in the early hours of Monday, at the Party’s National Council, of the candidate profile.
The 160 members of the political commission approved, among other things, that to lead the party, one must have been a member for 15 years or more, without interruption, have held some prominent position, such as being a member of the National Council, in addition to never having shown any behavior of indiscipline.
But was this profile adopted to keep Venâncio Mondlane out of the race for the presidency of Renamo? The party’s spokesperson, José Manteigas, says no, because it’s the same one presented at the sixth National Council.
This meeting also served to endorse May 15 and 16 for the holding of the National Congress, to take place in the province of Zambézia.
