An initiative set up by Vale Moçambique in partnership with Tecnicol in Moatize is training more than 500 education professionals, with the inaugural class of the second phase of the training taking place on June 10th.
Vale’s Community Relations Manager, Horácio Gervásio, took the opportunity to remind teachers of the value and responsibility they have in the teaching and learning process. “We believe that the quality of education dictates the socioeconomic development of a given country. And this is guaranteed by the existence of a qualified faculty, fully aware that the future of our country is in their hands,” he sketched out.
Chide Armelo, a teacher at the Escola Primária Completa Samora Machel and a beneficiary of the project, also reinforced the need for teachers to acquire new technical skills.
“We need this initiative because this training improves the teaching process, adapting our work to the new methodologies that will be applied in our students’ learning,” he explained.
At the end of the event, the Permanent Secretary of the District of Moatize, Salvador Zacarias, representing the district government, praised the efforts made by Vale in partnership with Tecnicol and the District Services of Education, Youth and Technology of Moatize. “We ask for your commitment, delivery and dedication so that you can absorb the contents of this training, so that the tools that are shared can raise your skills and thus improve the teaching and learning process,” Zacarias said.
Tecnicol is a training and professional technical training institution which has been operating in Mozambique for over 15 years, training professionals and preparing young people for the labour market, including self-employment.
The second phase of the project involves training in teaching areas such as mathematics, computing applied to education, reading and writing, and other transversal themes.
The initiative upholds Vale’s commitment to the communities in its areas of operation and to Mozambicans in general, investing in the training and education of young people for the better socio-economic development in the country.
