Screen grab: Sala da Paz
An unknown armed group attacked a police station in Tete province, a source from the police (PRM) told Lusa on Monday.
According to the head of PRM public relations in Tete, Deolinda Matsinhe, the attack occurred in the early hours of Saturday and the group, unknown in number, reportedly fired several shots against the Capirizange police post in Moatize district.
“They fired and ran away. We don’t know if it was an attempt to rob the post or if they had a specific target,” Deolinda Matsinhe said, adding that there were no victims or injuries.
According to the source, the Mozambican authorities are currently working hard to locate the group.
“The work to locate this group continues. The objective is to understand what the individuals intended and who they were”, to then try to “hold them accountable,” she said.
