Mozambique: Government orders removal of goods not labeled in Portuguese

The Board of the Mozambique – United States Chamber of Commerce (CCMUSA) awarded certificates to four new companies that joined CCMUSA on 10 June in Maputo. They are organisations operating in the industrial, technological, construction and legal sectors, with extensive experience in the country and on the international market. They are Midal Cables International Limitada, Raxio Data Centre Moçambique, MCC – Manutenção e Construção Civil Lda, Mendes, Duarte Rocha & Associados, Sociedade de Advogados.
On the occasion, Onório Manuel, president of the Mozambique – USA Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the new companies and called on them to take on the Chamber as part of themselves, in order to properly represent it at national and international level, which can help increase the number of members and demonstrate the quality of the services provided. On the same occasion, he reiterated the importance of the involvement of all the governing bodies and other members in the process of leveraging the business environment between Mozambique and the United States of America, demonstrating the Chamber’s commitment to supporting and adding value to its members’ businesses.
“This is a milestone for CCMUSA’s new dynamic in that it expands members’ commercial relations, enabling them to broaden their business possibilities and partnerships,” he added.
Profile of the new companies
Midal Cables International, Limitada is a company focused on the manufacture and sale of aluminium bars for electrical and mechanical applications, aluminium wires and bare overhead conductors for energy transmission and distribution. It began operations at the end of 2014 and has shown steady growth in production and sales volume. It is a global supplier with guaranteed preferential supply contracts, with customers in Europe, South Africa, Asia and the USA. It currently has 136 employees.
Raxio Data Center Mozambique is a company dedicated to operating data and IT infrastructure accommodation services for companies and public entities. It is the first transport-neutral Tier III data centre facility in Mozambique, will be a critical feature in the evolution of the country’s digital infrastructure, and will help accelerate the country’s demand for digital tools and services across all industries. It currently has 15 employees.
MCC – Manutenção e Construção Civil is an entity specialising in civil works, complex concreting, construction, drilling, demolition, earthworks, waterproofing, among other components of the construction industry.
Mendes, Duarte Rocha & Associados, Sociedade de Advogados, is a legal consultancy firm made up of a team of 14 employees with vast experience in various strategic sectors such as banking, financial services, energy and natural resources, national and international private investment, and is also part of the prestigious Portuguese Morais Leitão Legal Circle network.
