National Institute for Standardisation and Quality (INNOQ) Inspection teams have discovered shortfalls of as much as 40 grams in pre-packaged goods, against the permissible 15-gram margin of error, ‘Domingo’ reports.
The irregularities were detected during routine inspection work carried out in eight establishments from July 1st to July 13th.
Seventy-eight lots and 908 products including rice, sugar, corn and wheat flour, butter beans, peanuts, salted and fresh meat were sampled.
INNOQ says investigations aimed at ascertaining accountability are now being undertaken.
