The Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM) has US$30 million available to create a Centre of Excellence in the area of Agriculture.
The funding has been made available by the World Bank, via a five-year agricultural research grant managed through the Faculty of Agronomy.
The information was shared by UEM Rector Manuel Guilherme Júnior in an interview with ‘Notícias’, in which he explained that the funds would be used by academics conducting research in this area.
The dean of the oldest university in Mozambique said that the institution would continue to follow strict criteria in the management of funds in response to budget cuts, Manuel Guilherme Júnior remarking that a good part of the UEM budget was used up in current expenses and salary payments.
