Mozambique: At least three fishermen missing, feared abducted in Cabo Delgado

Three people suffered serious injuries and a fuel tanker burned out on National Highway Number 6 (EN6), in Inchope, Gondola district, Manica province yesterday.
The accident involved a fuel tanker and a truck carrying ordinary freight, which were travelling in opposite directions and crashed.
In addition to causing substantial material damage, the accident stopped traffic on the Beira-Chimoio / Chimoio-Beira routes, with trucks and light vehicles unable to continue their journeys until late in the afternoon, when wreckage of the trucks had been removed from the road.
The rapid intervention of the public safety corps prevented the fire from spreading.
The three seriously injured persons were taken to Chimoio Provincial Hospital, where the received medical treatment.
Firefighters’ spokesman Jorge Jone revealed that the driver of the truck travelling the Beira-Chimoio route and his companion were both seriously injured.
In the second vehicle involved, the driver’s assistant suffered serious injuries, but the driver was unharmed.
By late Tuesday afternoon, traffic had been restored but the two vehicles were reduced to ashes.
