The Minister of State Administration and Civil Service, Ana Comoane, revealed that the implementation of the Single Salary Table (TSU) will entail the retirement of almost 20,000 state employees and agents in Mozambique.
In a hearing this Monday (20-02) before the Parliamentary Commissions on Constitutional Affairs, Human Rights and Legality (1st), Plan and Budget (2nd) and Public Administration and Local Power (4th) of the Assembly of the Republic, the Minister of State Administration and Civil Service began by clarifying that, during the first phase of the implementation of the TSU, “which consisted of the migration of close to 400,000 FAEs [Funcionários e Agentes do Estado] to the new electronic Human Resources management platform, (…) we verified the existence of 18,964 FAEs aged 60 or over”.
Ana Comoane explained that “the Statute of Employees and Agents of the State determines that having reached the age of 60 with at least 15 years of service provided, the employee must retire”.
Minister Comoane revealed that, of the 18,964 State Employees and Agents aged 60 years or over, “2,172 were effectively dismissed in December (2022), while the remainder are undergoing the dismissal process from each of the sectors”.
