Mozambique: Alleged rebels attack village in Meluco district

Tropical Storm Freddy could make landfall in Inhambane by 12 noon this Friday (24-02).
According to projections by the National Institute of Meteorology (INAM), the storm will enter Mozambique in Inhambane province, subsequently affecting Gaza and Manica provinces, and on Sunday, neighbouring countries Zimbabwe and South Africa.
According to INAM’s Acácio Tembe, the system will hit the Mozambican coast as a Category 3 Tropical Storm, with winds of up to 160 kilometres per hour and gusts of up to 180 kmh, accompanied by thunderstorms and heavy rain of more than 200 millimetres in a 24-hour period.
Tembe also said that heavy rains were likely for three days, starting tomorrow, Saturday 25-02, in the provinces of Manica and Gaza.
