The known extent of Covid-19 infection in Mozambique is still confined to the city of Maputo, where the eight infected individuals remain in home isolation. However, the number of contacts being monitored by the Ministry of Health (MISAU) have increased.
National Director of Public Health Dr Rosa Marlene announced on Monday (30) that, for the second consecutive day, all suspected Covid-19 cases tested by the National Institute of Health, “came back negative”.
Mozambique still has just six imported cases, plus two of local transmission, all in isolation at home, but the number of contacts of these patients rose from 103 to 124 as a result of MISAU follow-up.
Dr Marlene clarified that the eight confirmed case were progressing “positively”, although their evaluation for eventual medical discharge would only take place after 14 to 21 days in isolation.
