Trans African Concessions Mozambique (TRAC), which is responsible for managing National Highway Number 4 (N4) in the Maputo Development Corridor, this Monday began the rehabilitation of the 66-km section between the Ressano Garcia border and the Tchumene interchange in Moamba district.
The launch ceremony was attended by the Minister of Transport and Logistics, João Matlombe, and the CEO of TRAC, Alex Van Niekerk.
The works, estimated at 5.5 billion meticais, aim to improve the passability of light and heavy vehicles, in addition to boosting the movement of cargo between Mozambique and South Africa.
Minister Matlombe said that the government had created a committee to assess the terms of the concession contract for National Road Number 4 (N4). The team will have six months to present its results, which will define the future management of Maputo’s main corridor.
During this period, the technical team will establish contacts with South African government entities, the concessionaire (TRAC) and other interested entities, with a view to assessing the contract, its addendums and annexes.
