Mozambique will host the headquarters of the Regional Coordination Centre for Maritime Monitoring, Control and Surveillance, and help meet the challenges of illegal fishing around Southern Africa and the entire African continent.
Mozambique’s geographical location, considered strategic for the organization’s programme of activities, has been a significant factor in its choice for the headquarters of the centre.
The good news came at a meeting of African maritime experts that took place this week in Maputo.
“Over the past few years, Mozambique has been an active participant in regional, continental and international organizations. We participated in CAMFA I and II, are founding members of SWIOFC, we joined the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission in 2012, and participated in the drafting of the SADC. Fisheries Protocol.
“This is a clear demonstration of our openness and strategic vision of cooperation with countries in the region to achieve national objectives and targets,” Narci Nuro de Premegi, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Sea, Inand Waters and Fisheries, commented in his speech.
