Mozambique: Public debt rises 2.7% in Q1
Folha de Maputo / Mozambique's minister of Economy and Finance Adriano Maleiane
The government is to introduce containment measures to address the escalating public debt, but they will not affect essential services, Folha de Maputo reports.
Minister of Economy and Finance Adriano Maleiane assured the public that the Health and Education areas would be protected in the new phase the country is entering.
Maleiane was speaking yesterday about the G14 suspension of state budget funding, a contribution which accounts for about 12 percent of the country’s expenditure.
The minister revealed that the government is now reviewing its travel expenses, along with others that can be cut immediately.
