Mozambique Telecom, SA (Tmcel) on Tuesday re-established fixed and mobile telecommunications in the districts of Quissanga, Ibo and the Quirimbas Archipelago in Cabo Delgado province in the north of the country.
Service had been unavailable since 21 April.
Re-establishing communications in those districts left Tmcel the only telephone operator currently functioning there, with the restoration of the satellite link in Mocímboa da Praia scheduled for the next few days.
Human, material and technical resources have been mobilised for the district of Mocímboa da Praia, where the works will be carried out. The aim is to restore minimum voice and data services for banks and e-SISTAFE system in Mueda, Nangade, Mocimboa da Praia and Palma districts.
Work by Mozambique Electricity on the medium voltage line continues, with a view to restoring electricity to the district of Muidumbe. The same goes to restoring microwave connectivity.
