Mozambique: Land invasion in Greater Maputo ends in chaos

Three alleged terrorists have left the forests and surrendered to the Defence and Security Forces (FDS) in the district of Mocimboa da Praia of Cabo Delgado province, Jornal Alerta reports, citing Televisão de Moçambique.
One of the deserters is a 30-year-old man with a degree in accounting and public administration, trained at the higher polytechnic institute of Tete, who revealed that his role was as a ‘bush pharmacist’, also tasked with recharging cell phones and entering information on memory cards. According to the same source, the man had lately controlled the people who went out to work in the ‘machambas’.
The other man, aged 31 and with extensive combat experience, revealed that when terrorists capture people, if they say they have no money, they are killed, the terrorists saying God would pay them in paradise.
The third is a 43-year-old man, who had the task of stealing food to supply the bases.
The deserters describe a scenario of great suffering, especially for women and children, reporting a lack of water and that they eat grass to survive.
