UNDP: Leaving No One Behind at Local Level - Cabo Delgado province report

The Maputo Theatre of the Oppressed Centre (CTO-Maputo), in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), through the RRF Mozambique, is holding a workshop in Theatre of the Oppressed techniques in Mecula, Niassa province, from Monday, September 1, to Friday, September 5.
The training is aimed at displaced persons and host communities, victims of incursions by unidentified armed men in Mecula-Sede, Matondovela, Lugenda (Mussoma), Mbamba, Naulala and Macalange.
The workshop will be led by Alvim Cossa and Mevis Chongo, from CTO-Maputo, both professionals with extensive experience working with displaced and host communities, who use the arts as a tool for social harmonization, creating safe spaces for dialogue and community strengthening.
The Theatre of the Oppressed workshops’ core methodology is a participatory tool that promotes critical reflection and the collective construction of solutions to social problems, enabling communities affected by vulnerable situations to find paths to resilience and resilience.
In the context of Mecula, the initiative aims to contribute to the prevention of gender-based violence, child abuse and exploitation, as well as address other challenges affecting displaced populations.
In addition to community participation, the workshop will involve a multi-sectoral gender team made up of members of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique, technicians from the District Services of Education and Health, Women, Gender and Children, as well as other local stakeholders committed to promoting human rights and peaceful coexistence.
The training represents an important milestone in promoting psychosocial support and active citizenship in crisis contexts, reaffirming the importance of the arts in strengthening communities and building a future with greater hope and social justice.
