The senior women’s national team may compete in the pre-qualification for the 2026 FIBA World Championship in Mexico or Rwanda between August 19 and 25.
According to the online newspaper Lance.co.mz, after a bidding process, the Mexican Basketball Federation and the Rwandan Basketball Federation were awarded the right to host the events, which will take place in their respective capital cities, namely Mexico City and Kigali.
In addition to the 12 nations competing in the Women’s Basketball Olympic Tournament Paris 2024, the top 16 teams in the world (4 per region) will be in action as a first step on the Road to the FIBA 2026 Women’s Basketball World Cup in Germany.
Here are the nations competing in the pre-qualification tournaments for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Championship Germany 2026:
Africa: Senegal, Mali, Rwanda, Mozambique; Americas: Brazil, Mexico, Venezuela, Argentina;
Asia/Oceania: New Zealand, Korea, Philippines, Lebanon; and Europe: Hungary, Czech Republic, Montenegro, and Great Britain.
