Utter disregard for weight limits seems to be the only possible explanation for the log transporter here seen ‘sunk’ on a road in Tete province.
As a result, the truck travelling on National Road 322 on Saturday night destroyed this raised roadway, constraining other road traffic between Madamba and the Chire river, Miramar reports.
The National Road Administration is in no doubt: “The truck was over the recommended weight.”
The authorities blame poor regulation of the cargo and high speed for the incident.
The truck opened a crater in the raised roadway, which will oblige the diversion of traffic until the infrastructure can be repaired.
