The Governor of Niassa Province urges the Mandimba District government to intensify border control with Malawi to curb the smuggling of agricultural products to that neighboring country.
Speaking on Wednesday at the public presentation ceremony of the new Administrator of Mandimba, Judite Massengele emphasized that the El Nino phenomenon, which affected the southern zone of Niassa, had a negative impact on agricultural production, hence the need to control the export of agricultural products to Malawi to minimize potential food shortages.
The head of the Provincial Executive Council assured that the government is providing state-of-the-art equipment to the Migration Services to combat the smuggling of products to neighboring Malawi and beyond.
On this occasion, the new head of the Mandimba district government, Emidio Xavier, expressed readiness to work with all members of society in combating the smuggling of agricultural products and other situations.
