A group of Islamist terrorists in Namigure village, less than ten kilometers from Macomia town, in the northern Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado, on Tuesday looted food products and household utensils.
According to Wednesday’s issue of the independent newsheet “Carta de Moçambique”, citing local sources, the raid took place at dawn on Tuesday but there was no violence.
“The enemies were here. They arrived very early, but they didn’t do anything violent. They only took foodstuffs like rice and maize flour, and then left”, a source said.
Another resident believes that the terrorists may not have travelled very far from the village and that they may return to carry out more robberies for their logistics.
“I don’t know if they’ll come back or not. But they’re having a hard time with the defense force attacks”, the source said.
As well as Macomia, the terrorists have carried out raids in recent days in the district of Mocímboa da Praia, where three people were killed a week ago after an attack on the town of Oasse.
