Mozambique: Terrorists assault Quirimba Island, kill two FDS agents – O País

One day after temporarily occupying the main town of Quissanga district, terrorists assaulted Quirimbas Island, in Ibo district. According to reports, the insurgents murdered two Defence and Security Forces (FDS) agents.
After taking control of the island, “they killed a cow, cooked it and invited some people from the village to join the meal”, island inhabitants report.
“Since they looted Quirimba, here in Ibo people have lived in fear, and the authorities have forced people to stay indoors for security reasons. No one can leave their house, under orders from the Defence and Security Forces, because they [the terrorists] threatened to come to Ibo after Quirimba,”another inhabitant revealed.
Despite several attempts to contact government authorities, both at district and provincial levels, O Pais was unable to establish further details about the security situation on Ibo Island, a place that was thought to have been under strong security measures for almost two days, due to the terrorist attacks.
