Mozambique: Terrorist leader Twahili Mwidini killed in Cabo Delgado – RM

Twahili Mwidini, one of the terrorist leaders who led the occupation of the district village of Mocímboa da Praia, in Cabo Delgado, a year ago, was killed this Saturday in a joint operation by Mozambique’s Defence and Security Forces (FDS) and Rwandan troops.

The announcement was made this Sunday by the commander-general of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM), Bernardino Rafael, during a military parade with the FDS stationed in Magoma, about 13 kilometres from Mocímboa da Praia village, and 11 from Naquitungue, where Twahili Mwidini was killed.

“This leader, Twahili Mwidini ,a Tanzanian who was already wanted by the Defence and Security Forces, directed an operation in Mocímboa da Praia and kidnapped two Brazilian nuns in one of the communities here in Mocímboa da Praia,” Bernardino Rafael said.

“They are hungry, they are thirsty, they are in mourning every day for their leaders, more than seven. We are talking about leaders such as Muhamud, Rajabo, Cassimo; in less than 60 days they lost their lives, not counting the operatives themselves. This means that we are on a good path in the fight against terrorism in Mozambique,” he said.

Rafael also announced the recovery by Mozambican and Rwandan troops of two AKM-type weapons and eight magazines.

The FDS, together with troops from Rwanda and the SADC, had killed seven terrorist leaders in the last 60 days, he added, leaving the enemy increasingly fragile.
