The Governor of Cabo Delgado, Valige Tauabo, announced this Tuesday (19-03) that the Defence and Security Forces (FDS) were continuing to make efforts to ensure the tranquillity of communities where terrorists had in recent times killed people, as well as destroying public and private property.
Speaking to journalists, Governor Tauabo explained that the FDS had expelled the terrorists who had occupied the District Headquarters of Quissanga and the Island of Quirimba, as well as the group that was terrorising some communities in the districts of Chiúre and Ancuabe.
The terrorists’ expulsion from these places is allowing the population to return to their areas of origin.
The process of supplying food and non-food products to markets in the Quissanga District and Quirimba Island is currently underway.
The leader said that the terrorists’ new modus operandi consists of using the population as a shield to commit atrocities, looting, extortion and destruction of public and private property.
The governor saluted the selfless work of the FDS in ensuring the peace, security and public tranquillity of communities.
