Mozambique: Terrorist attack repelled in Nangade – reports

A group of terrorists reportedly attempted to approach the village of Nangade via Litingina village on Monday night, but were frustrated by the prompt reaction of the Defence and Security Forces (FDS), Sala da Paz reports, citing a MediaFax article.

According to Mediafax, citing local sources, the FDS was already on alert, and managed to repel and start pursuing the terrorists. MediaFax says it has not been able to ascertain the result of subsequent operations.

However, MediaFax reports, it seems certain that there have been casualties on the terrorist side, given the advance preparation of the FDS and some weakening of the attackers within the scope of the operations in central and northern regions of Cabo Delgado by the joint action force comprising Mozambican, Rwandan and Southern African Development Community country troops.

Meanwhile, reports of intense fighting in Mbau continue, with some indications suggesting terrorist resistance at their main bases.
