Mozambican health authorities are distributing Covid-19 vaccines in several provinces of the country, thanks to a donation of 200,000 doses from the Chinese Government, local radio reported on Monday.
Although immunisation is an important step, ‘the vaccine cannot be seen as the immediate salvation of all communities against this pandemic, so it is necessary to continue observing all preventive measures,’ Secretary of State in Inhambane Province, Ludmila Maguni, warned.
Inhambane Province governor Daniel Chapo also reiterated full compliance with the measures ordered by the Council of Ministers in order to contain the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes Covid-19.
The official explained that the health workers who remain on frontline centres fighting the pandemic will be prioritized in this first phase.
On Sunday, the Ministry of Health informed that 11 deaths due to Covid-19 and 578 new cases were reported, so the death toll increased to 641 and the total number of contagions rose to 59,350.
