The National Road 380 road connection between the city of Pemba and northern districts of Cabo Delgado province is again restricted, following the collapse of a temporary metal bridge over the Montepuez River.
The alternative bridge, in the village Nivico/Moja in Quissanga district, was damaged on Tuesday afternoon (24), when a tipper truck crashed and fell into the Montepuez river.
There were no casualties, @Verdade has learned, and the accident was apparently caused by the metal bridge coming adrift. The incident has left circulation on National Road 380 between the capital and the northern districts of the province constrained again.
Since December, when the main bridge over the Montepuez river collapsed, the land connection between the city of Pemba and some of the province’s wealthiest districts has been full of incident.
