Six geology students from Mozambican universities are in Russia to participate in the III International Geological Championship “GeoChallenge”, running from 7 to 17 September in Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan.
The participation of Mozambican students in this event, which brings together students from various countries on various continents, is a result of the memorandum of understanding signed in 2024 between the National Museum of Geology (MNG), an entity subordinate to the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy (MIREME), and the Russian Geological Research Institute (Karpinsky).
The six participating Mozambican students were selected from UEM, ISCTEM, UniTiva, and UniRovuma, Nampula.
As with the second edition, which also saw Mozambican participation, this year’s challenge will include competitions in the areas of general geology, mineralogy, petrography, radiometry, palaeontology, oil and gas, and camp organization for geological expeditions.
Before the Mozambican students left for Russia, they bade farewell to the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Estevão Pale, who challenged them to dedicate themselves diligently to achieving good results for the country, always respecting the rules of the game and of coexistence.
