The exceptional Tax Authority of Mozambique (AT) process of regularising foreign-registered vehicles that have been on the market for more than 30 days kicked off on Monday, under the Temporary Importation regime set forth in Article 2, paragraph 1, in conjunction with Article 1 and Article 3 of the Regulations on Temporary Importation of vehicles approved by Ministerial Diploma no. 15/2002 of 30 January.
In a statement sent to O Pais, the AT states that the regularisation process of all vehicles in this category will run until February 28, 2019, at all headquarters of provincial customs services.
The process covers vehicles, trailers, boats, motorcycles, watercraft and other means of circulating which by law must be localised through payment of duties and other customs duties and the consequent assignment of identification plates.
Owners must be present with the vehicles and their documentation for the purpose of verification, evaluation and consequent submission of the process in the Single Electronic Window system, through a customs broker of the owner’s choice.
For the process to run smoothly, a mobile team will visit places in each province where there is thought to be a considerable number of vehicles in the circumstances outlined, on dates indicated by the local governments.
In the case of vehicles currently under customs control and in the process of definitive importation, their owners may request their custody as bona-fide depositaries, after payment in full of customs duties. In such cases, they need only make a formal request under the terms established in the legislation, pending the completion of the INATTER registration process.
