The Mozambican Tax Authority (AT), in consort with other Defence and Security Forces, began preparations for the 25 June National Independence 50th anniversary festivities in Maputo on last week.
As part of this preparation, more than 50 AT employees, representing all the provinces of the country, are being quartered at the AT Paramilitary Training and Instruction Centre, located in Boane district. Maputo province.
The President of the AT, Aníbal Mbalango, visited the paramilitary training and instruction establishment on Sunday morning, where he learned about the logistical conditions of the employees and offered moral support with a view to ensuring a worthy representation at the celebrations.
During his visit, Mbalango consulted the local management on the functioning of the centre and challenged them to make the space a place for training and transformative retraining of employees, with a view to operational readiness, towards increasing revenue collection levels, with responsibility, integrity and transparency.
Regarding the concerns raised and which, according to the management, affect the normal functioning of the centre, the AT president recommended that they be systematized and formalized so that they can be analysed and discussed by the Board of Directors, the deliberative body that can approve and guide the design of more appropriate strategies.
Of the problems raised, the need to improve infrastructure, working conditions and the desirability of creating an institutional Guard of Honour, as well as strengthening the team of instructors, stood out.
