Mozambique: Washing cars on a street corner as a means to escape a life of crime
The Mozambican Tax Authority (AT) has distributed to its merchandise control and inspection teams 63 mobile phones equipped with devices to verify and track the seal in order to prevent the counterfeiting of products such as alcoholic beverages, the institution announced.
In a statement to which Lusa had access on Tuesday, the AT states that it has started using an electronic program called the “insight system” to track fiscal stamps, the aim of which is to prevent customs illegalities, including the counterfeiting of seals for these products.
According to the coordinator of the Alcoholic Beverages and Manufactured Tobacco Sealing Unit, Miguel Nhane, quoted in the statement, this action is part of the technological improvement of the program that resulted in the introduction of the new generation of fiscal stamps control , including digital seals, and the adoption of the mobile phone as the main instrument for verifying and tracking the seal.
In the same document, it is stated that Miguel Nhane warned of the need to pay extra attention to the entry of products into the country without seals, stating that “there are situations in which seals appear on the market for goods that have not been imported”, and there are illegalities that can be stopped with “effective monitoring”.
