Mozambique’s National Institute of Statistics (INE) began on Monday a national survey to determine the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on businesses.
The survey will last two weeks, and the aim is to collect information that will make it possible to determine the number of companies affected by the new coronavirus.
During the operation, data will also be collected on the number of workers affected and their salary situation because of the illness, said the same source from INE.
The survey will be conducted based on a representative sample of 2,100 production units, covering all sectors of economic activity, either directly or by telephone.
The source said that this is an operation that will measure the level of tax revenue losses suffered by the state and to collect information on the expectations of the business community regarding production, demand, prices, employment, invoicing and wages for the coming months.
