Ninety double desks were delivered to Samora Machel Primary and Secondary School in the City of Pemba last Friday (23-05), to the direct benefit of 540 students there.
The delivery ceremony was presided over by the Governor of Cabo Delgado Province, Valige Tauabo, who in his speech appealed to the school community, and students in particular, to conserve the desks for future generations.
Governor Tauabo also appealed to the school community to maintain and repair damaged desks.
The acquisition of the desks was possible with the financial support of Africa Global Logistics (AGL), Pemba Delegation.
Speaking on the occasion, AGL manager Niven Poinapen said that the acquisition of the desks was the first in a series of support actions envisioned as part of his organization’s social responsibility programme.
Provincial Director of Education in Cabo Delgado, Ivaldo Quincardete, then praised the efforts of the School Council in creating initiatives to improve teaching and learning conditions.
A message of thanks from the students presented by Géssica Elias highlighted the value of the desks, and then requested the construction of a multi-purpose sports field for the schools.
