A storm, with violent gusts of wind and rain, caused several damages in Marracuene district on Thursday afternoon (05-11).
According to District Administrator Shaffe Sidat, the brief storm, lasting about 15 minutes, destroyed homes and public and private infrastructure and felled trees and electricity poles.
“We have no record of serious injuries so far,” Sidat said on Thursday night, revealing that damage assessment was already underway, as was work to address some specific problems.
“Along with repairs to the Marracuene electrical substation, efforts are being made to supply power to the Guava, Mateque, Ricatla and Zintava neighbourhoods through Substation 9 in Magoanine, and the Mali and Numero and Mapulango neighbourhoods, through the Zimpeto substation,” Sidat said.
