The city of Maputo will host the meeting between Mozambican music icon Stewart Sukuma and charismatic Guinean artist Remna Schwarz, in an intimate concert taking place at 6 p.m. this Tuesday on the stage of XHUB – Incubadora de Negócios Culturais e Criativos (Cultural and Creative Business Incubator).
The show is born from an unexpected but powerful artistic connection. During an artistic residency promoted by the Scala Association in partnership with Khuzula, which brought together talents from seven Portuguese-speaking countries, Schwarz and Sukuma not only participated in a collective creation celebrating Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, Timor-Leste, and São Tomé and Príncipe. They also met in the studio in an atmosphere of creative complicity.
It was there that guitars, voices, and emotions spoke loudest. Musical affinities and passion for cultural fusion opened the way for wanting: to share more than just a song, to share stages, stories, and sounds. From this energy was born the irresistible invitation to a concert that promises to be a journey between tradition and modernity, Africa and the world.
A dialogue between two musical forces: Stewart Sukuma, whose career is marked by anthems that resonate in the Mozambican and international imagination, brings the experience, warm voice, and rhythmic identity of Mozambique.
A true nomad of sonic landscapes, Remna Schwarz is considered an African treasure by his peers. Singer, guitarist, and composer born in Senegal, with a Cape Verdean mother and Guinean father, he has lived in Congo, Mali, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, Cape Verde, France, Cuba, the USA, and Portugal, where he settled.
Together, they create a rare spectacle, where strings and voices intertwine in a play of artistic complicity that transcends borders. More than a concert, it will be a manifesto that music has the power to unite cultures, heal distances, and open paths for future collaborations.
The XHUB stage will host this encounter as if witnessing the first spark of a partnership that has everything to mark the Lusophone music scene. Stewart Sukuma and Remna Schwarz promise to share not only songs, but also the intensity of two universes that meet to celebrate the diversity, creativity and future of African music worldwide.
