Mozambique: Public Prosecutor opposed to building on mangrove area

The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), through the Asset Management Office, has launched a public tender for the selection and hiring of a company specializing in rental management, control, custody and conservation of real estate.
The aim is for the private sector to manage the assets of illicit origin seized and recovered by the state.
The expectation is that these assets will serve as a source of foreign currency for to support the state in implementing public policies, according to the National Director of State Assets at the MEF, Albertina Fruquia, quoted by Notícias. last week
The concession of property management is also expected to increase financial and property revenue and rationalize State spending.

At the launch of the asset management portal, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, Carla Louveira, revealed that 19 assets, both movable and immovable, had been allocated for use by various public administration entities in the country and 12 properties leased. Likewise, to date, 48 vehicles seized from criminal organizations have been allocated to public administration entities working in the security, health, education and prison sectors, as well as to Mozambique’s National Criminal Investigation Service, and 24 refrigerators have also been allocated to Maputo Central Hospital.
The Asset Management Office is already publicizing the seized assets for sale by public auction. The money raised should finance the activities of the Central Recovery Office and the Asset Management Office.
