Deeply human themes such as generational conflicts, friendship, love, dreams and social inclusion are the theme of ‘Résonances’, a multilingual staged reading piece directed by renowned Mozambican theatre director and actress Lucrécia Paco.
The project, which premieres this Thursday at the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Centre (CCFM) in the city of Maputo, offers a selection of texts from the ’10 SUR 10′ collection,.
The texts were translated from French into Portuguese by students at the Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM) translation course, reflecting a joint effort between academia and performing arts.
The play, which transports the viewer to the multicultural context of Mozambique, is performed by Adelino Branquinho. a legend of the Mozambican Theatre scene, Sufayda Moiane, Paulo Jamine, Nélia Gilberto and Joana Mbalango.
‘Résonances’ is the result of an international initiative led by Jean Nowak, professor and founder of Drameducation – an International Centre for Francophone Theatre in Poland.
The programme aims to promote the teaching of the French language through theatre, contributing to the linguistic and cultural development of students.
The premiere at CCFM marks the beginning of a series of performances that will follow in several schools and cultural centres in Maputo, allowing a wider audience to watch the staged readings.
Thus, performances are planned in the coming days at Escola Secundária Zedequias Manganhela, “Noroeste 2”, Centro Cultural Ntsindya, Museu Mafalala and “Gwaza Mutini”.
In addition to Lucrécia Paco in the direction, the performance will feature musician and composer Celso Durão.
