The Sofala industrial fishing sector recorded catches of only 200 tons of fish in the first quarter of this year, against more than 400 tons in the same period last year.
This corresponds to just five percent of the total planned catch this year of more than 4,200 (four thousand two hundred) tons.
The provincial director of Sea and Inland Fisheries in Sofala, Carlos Sindela, said that the late start of the season had contributed to the reduced catch.
