Journalists from different media this Tuesday flew into Palma to report on the damage caused by the attacks. The group came under fire, apparently, as they arrived.
The grou of journalists was transported and escorted by members of the Defence Forces : No one was injured in the incident..
The group ended up returning to Afungi.
They talk about the incident and how the members of the Defence and Security Forces protected them and took them back to safety, “We even learned how to crawl, something which none of us had probably ever done,” says the Rádio Moçambique reporter.
“We suffered an ambush,” says António Tiua, “but the important thing is that we came out safe and sound”.
The RTP correspondent in Mozambique also expresses relief at the outcome, concluding that they will “tell their grandchildren about this adventure”.
Therefore, the situation in Palma,,” is not yet under control”, Antóni Tiua reports.
Watch the STV report, from Afungi, Palma, below:
See this… In rush to prove they – not ISIS – are in control of Palma, army took journalists to the town… and they were ambushed by militants. Luckily everybody managed to escape alive. This is embarrassing and irresponsible behavior! https://t.co/BIonIAcIRn
