Sixteen people were admitted to hospital in Malema, Nampula province, after a road accident involving the motorcade of Renamo leader Ossufo Momade on Saturday afternoon.
Fifteen of the injured received outpatient treatment and were discharged after observation a few hours later. The other victim was transferred to Ribáuè Rural Hospital, due to the severity of [his] injuries.
Information was confirmed by Director of Health, Women and Social Action in Malema district, Felisberto Manuel.
According to Radio Mozambique sources in Malema, five vehicles in the Renamo leader’s motorcade, en route from Niassa, collided with each other in poor visibility as a result of dust raised along National Road Number 13 (EN13).
