The Judicial Court of the City of Beira has scheduled the reading of the sentence in the case of two Democratic Movement of Mozambique delegates accused of kidnapping and irregular imprisonment for Tuesday, October 10.
After requesting further evidence, the court today scheduled the reading of the sentence for the day before voting in the municipal elections on Wednesday, October 11.
At their last opportunity to speak before the court the defendants unanimously declared themselves innocent, saying they had not committed any crime and that they are the victims of a political cabal.
The trial had initially been scheduled for September 29 and was then postponed to October 3, but finally only took place today.
